Free typing test, one minute
One minute, real words, a score at the end. Nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.
How the test works
Words drop from the top of the screen. You type a word before it lands and it clears. Miss it and you lose a life. After sixty seconds you get words per minute, accuracy and a rank you can post to the global board.
Speed is measured on active typing time, so a pause to read does not quietly deflate your number. That is why the score here usually matches how fast you feel.
What counts as a good score
Around 40 words per minute is typical for an adult. 60 to 70 is comfortable office speed. Above 90 you are in the top few percent and most of your gains come from accuracy, not finger speed.
How to get a clean reading
Use a real keyboard, sit square to the screen and take three runs instead of one. First runs are always slow because you are still reading the layout. Take the median of the three and treat that as your number.
